What is Involved?
You will undertake a one-year training programme comprising blocks of training within the university and a minimum of two assessed school placements within the alliance schools. This will enable you to develop your teaching skills, subject knowledge and good classroom practices. You will be assigned a mentor at your placement school and at the University. We are very proud of the success of our School Direct programme and the majority of our trainees are offered a permanent role on completion of the programme.
Duration
One year (September through to June).
Assessment and Accreditation
- You will be assessed through a professional portfolio, which will be used to build evidence of how the standards for the award of qualified teacher status (QTS) are being met.
- From an academic perspective you will be assessed at the University through a series of assessment points, including two assignments at Masters level.
- Classroom experience will increase in each successive term of the programme, as your confidence and ability develop.
